At River Cities Humane Society for Cats, we often take in senior cats who’ve spent their entire lives as beloved companions—only to find themselves in a shelter after their person has passed away, moved to a care facility, or can no longer care for them. These cats are gentle, affectionate, and used to a quiet life filled with love. But in a busy shelter environment, they can become withdrawn or confused, longing for the comfort they once knew.
Our Seniors for Seniors Program is designed to create beautiful new beginnings by pairing senior cats (age 7 or older) with senior adopters (age 60 and older). These calm, loving cats are a perfect match for individuals seeking a low-maintenance, loyal companion. In their golden years, both cats and humans benefit deeply from this bond—offering each other companionship, warmth, and a sense of purpose.

How It Works:
- Age Criteria: This program is for adopters age 60 and older, adopting cats age 7 or older.
- Adoption Fee: We offer a special discounted adoption fee of $40.
- Pay-What-You-Can: We understand that every situation is different. If cost is a concern, just talk to us—exceptions can be made.
