TNR
Trap - Neuter - Return
What is it?
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a humane, community-based approach to managing outdoor cat populations. Cats are safely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and then returned to their original location.
How the neighborhoods are chosen
We will identify neighborhoods with the highest stray and feral cat populations through community reports, intake data, and local partnerships. These areas will be prioritized for TNR outreach and trapping efforts.
The Process
Residents or volunteers report community cat colonies. Our team or trained volunteers will safely trap, transport, and coordinate veterinary care. Once cats are sterilized and vaccinated, they are released back into their territory.
Funders
The launch of this program is funded by Best Friends Animal Society, a national organization working to end the killing of cats and dogs in shelters.
How it Helps
TNR reduces the number of homeless kittens born each year, lowers disease transmission, and improves the quality of life for community cats. It also helps shelters like ours focus resources on cats that truly need rehoming.
