Outreach &
Community Education
At River Cities Humane Society for Cats, we believe education is the first step to prevention.
By helping people understand responsible pet care, humane treatment of animals, and the importance of spay/neuter, we can reduce suffering and prevent many animals from ever entering the shelter system.
Our team regularly participates in community outreach and educational visits throughout Northeast Louisiana.
School & Youth Education
We are available to visit schools, youth groups, and community programs to talk with children about:
• Proper kitten and cat care
• Responsible pet ownership
• The importance of spay and neuter
• Animal compassion and safety
• What animal shelters doThese visits are designed to be engaging, age-appropriate, and interactive, helping young people develop empathy and responsibility toward animals.
Community Visits
In addition to educational programs, we also provide community enrichment visits, including:
• Nursing homes
• Assisted living facilities
• Community centers
• Special events
These visits bring comfort, joy, and companionship to community members while also helping our cats receive socialization and positive interaction.
We are always open to new outreach opportunities and love working with organizations that want to make a difference in the lives of animals.
